March 10, 2009

Hi everyone! It’s getting to that time of month again… GENERAL MEETING!! This month, we will be discussing our financial health, and learning great tips on how to not just preserve it, but to grow it even in this difficult economy. In fact, we had planned this topic even before the recession had hit!

So please come and join us at CUNY Graduate Center, where we will welcome special guest speakers (a CPA and a financial advisor) who will be helping us understand such topics as:

* Recession vs Depression: what is the difference?
* What is credit??How can I improve mine?
* What is my credit score? Why should I pay attention to it?
* Budgeting: how do I set one up?? How or where can I cut back?
* Credit cards: which ones are the “best” ones?
* If I need more money now, where should/can I get it?
* How can I manage my debt better?
* Savings: how much should I have in reserve, how should it be distributed?
* Investing my money: if I have some, where should I put it?
* If I already have investments, should I sell or hold on?
* Real estate: rent or buy?? If already own, sell and go back to renting?

There will also be plenty of time to ask specific questions that you may have, both during the meeting and at our usual post-GM dinner. For our customary opening icebreaker, please think about what your favorite currency is (i.e. dollar, euro, peso, etc.) and bring an example if you have any!

WHEN: Friday March 20th, 2009
