11/18 Join us for Donation Drive!!!

November 11, 2011

Hey Q-Wavers,

Rather than holding a normal GM, our meeting this month will be a DONATION DRIVE where we are asking for people to drop by the room with donations for Housing Works (please see below for a brief description of the work Housing Works does for the NY community) and then stay for some social time, conversation & snacks!

This event is open to ALL who wish to attend keeping in mind that safe space rules still apply!

This month it will take place on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at CUNY GRAD CENTER Room 9204

The list of donate-able items includes gently used:

· men’s & women’s clothing
· children’s clothing
· shoes
· handbags & accessories
· jewelry
· housewares

Hope to see you there!!!

And for some light bathroom reading…Here’s a tidbit Housing Works:

Housing Works* is a non-profit organization based in New York City that works to end “the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain [their] efforts.” As advocates, the organization fights for the inclusion and dignity of marginalized communities including active drug users, homeless people all people living with HIV/AIDS, homeless people, and sexual minorities. They have provided services (housing, healthcare, meals, mental health/substance use treatment, job training, legal assistance, etc.) to more than 20,000 homeless and low-income NYers living with HIV/AIDS since 1990. And they also began social enterprise-businesses that provide employment opportunities to the NY community and whose profits fund the mission of Housing Works.
