Archiving Project partnership - the LGBT Center

Throwback to Q-Wave prep for 2009’s pride parade!

Q-Wave has entered a partnership with the LGBT Center (aka the Center) for its new Community Archives & Preservation (CAP) project! From 2022-2024, the Center will help us look back through our records of Q-Wave’s almost 20 years (!!) of programming and community impact, give us the tools to archive this history, and share our work with future generations (and all of you), so our community's stories live on long after us.

We need YOUR HELP to preserve our queer and trans API history! We are asking our Q-Wave community members to submit an inventory of items they have from over the years HERE. Please email info@q-wave.org if you have any questions!

More Information about the CAP Project!

CAP sets out to support LGBTQ community groups and grassroots organizations in preserving evidence of their work and history. Community groups—especially those run by and serving queer & trans Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color—are too often underrepresented in archival collections, and lack resources to direct toward preservation of their own histories. CAP's work will address these issues by partnering with CK Life, AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power (ACT UP) NY, and Q-Wave.

This project is made possible thanks to the generosity of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
